Thanks for starting this group. I was paralyzed from the chest down in a snow skiing accident 4 years ago and I'm confined to a wheelchair. Life isn't over when this happens! Thanks to my friends and family that help me through the rough days! They love me unconditionally!

On this Memorial Day Weekend lets not forget all of our Troops that are coming home disabled. They need our support. Are there any organizations to help them besides the DAV?

This is a great group to join. So many people cope with some type of
disability everyday. Having someone in my family having a disability
can sometimes not affect yourself but the young ones as well. It is so
important to try to educate them the best we know how.

I have a lot of disabilities like I am blind in 1 eye hearing loss right sided stroke and half blind in the other eye. Megan

This is a great group. So many people are touch by a disability whether it is themselves or a family member.
My husband is 100% disabled from a work injury years ago. He has sever arthritis, heart problems and back problems. It's hard to see them surffer, but his hope is in the Lord and day by day He sees us through.

I have been reaching out to both new and old members on this site. Once again, I have learned more and more that each of us here on TS have loved ones with a certain disability. One of our great Admin, Alex is blind but that doesn't stop her! No it doesn't and I have been supporting her all the way for her to accomplish her dreams. This group also includes those who might be Bi-polar or someone who has multiple personalities and is getting treated for it, for that can be just as difficult as taking care of someone who is in a wheel chair.

As for myself, my oldest sibbling is mentally disabled and now he is legally blind.

When I was a teenager, I worked for a non profit camp in Maine where they took inner city kids and even took Easter Seal Children. I was fortunate enough to work with those kids...the ES, which I truly believed helped me learn how to better understand my brother. I got to take care of paralyzed, wheel chair bound children 24 hours, I know what it is like. How exhausting it can be, but how our love as a parent drives us to keep working hard for their sake and so I wanted to make this group for you care takers, for you parents or sibblings or even friends that need that extra support. Unless you go through taking care of a person with a disability, wether it is old or young, there are no words to describe how hard it can be.

I have a family member who has alzeimer's and I see the toll it has taken on my family...again it is never easy and so I am here for you and so are others.
