Hi,
My name is Brandi.
My story here is back in 2007 I had signed up for the Air Force.
Being homeschool I was required to have a certain amount of college credits to be accepted even though I was already in college and was excepted there with my high school diploma.
In November of '07 I was supposed to ship out for basic training, a week before, I recieved a call that it was going to be held off because they made a mistake with my credits and I would have to take another class to get the required amount.
I was dating a wonderful man at the time who had decided he was going to move where ever I went...so when it was held off, things got serious and we got married.
My husband has 3 girls of his own that he has full custody of. I got pregnant with my little girl and after the mess up with my credits I had never heard anything else from my recruiters.
Now that my baby is 8 months, I'm considering the air force again it was always a dream of mine. I had always planned on working towards becoming an officer and then a pilot.
The problem is now, I'm getting different answers from different recruiters.
One recruiter told me I cannot join because I have more than one dependant.
Another recruiter told me I can get a waiver since the 3 girls are my step children.
I really don't understand how you can only have one dependant when you join, but once your in you can have as many children as you want? What is the difference?
And does anyone know the real answer to the whole dependant situation?
It really breaks my heart that after everything I did to be able to be accepted, from taking tons of extra classes, to losing 55lbs in a month and a half, excercising 2 or 3 times a DAY, and when THEY messed up I was never contacted again.
