Need Help w/Military ID's and Social Security #

hi everyone.

yes, yes. it HAS been forever since i've been on TS. and for that i apologize. but i have a question for all of YOU.

my office (IL Secretary of State) is re-vamping it's fraud document training (well, i am actually doing it) and i need to know if any of you out there have military ID cards? if so, i'm specifically looking to see if the NEW version (with the smart chip) has the dependent's SSN on the dependent military ID card? or is it the SSN of the SPONSOR? i'm 99% certain all other military ID's other than the dependent card contain the SSN of the bearer.

reason i ask is because our office currently accepts military ID cards for proof of SSN when applying for an IL Driver's License or Photo ID Card. however, if the D.O.D. has changed this card to omit the SSN of the dependent, then we need to change our ID procedures.

i have been asked to do some research on this subject on behalf of my office. so what better community to turn to than those of you on Troopspace?! i thank you all in advance for helping me out with this one. i really don't have access to many military documents any longer. so if you have, or know someone who has a current military ID (dependent, active duty, reserve, etc.) can you please comment back and help me out? i greatly appreciate it!

PS-i've attached sample images of the 'old' and 'new' ID formats i'm referring to

My husband is in the coast guard and on my dependent id i have HIS SSN on it (as a sponsor), mine is also on there but in all X's so it's not scene. I just checked my card and it doesn't have the chip,i just got it a month ago. On his id it has the chip but i haven't really examined it for much else.

hope that helps.

Josh, I have not had a military ID in along time but a small suggestion might be if you contact your state military department explain to them wheat you are doing and why you need the info they should be able to help you out.

Hey Josh,

On my husband's military active ID card, it has his SSN.

My spouse/dependent military ID has his SSN, under "Sponsor's SSN"

If you ask me, I don't like the fact that both ID's have the full SSN which again, is his number, not mine. Not that I would want mine on their but if I had to choose between the two, I would rather be responsible for just mine, not his.

Mine is NOT on it at all. I got it straight from the ISC Base.

Hope that works!

Marisol
